Portobello Mushroom Steak Earth Day Salad

Ingredients
  

  • 1 (9.1-ounce) package Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad kit
  • 1 pound Portobello mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil 
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 
  • 2 teaspoons Chinese 5 spice
  • 1 teaspoon salt 

Instructions
 

  • On a cutting board slice mushrooms into 1/2 inch steaks and preheat a pan to medium.
  • Season mushrooms on both sides with Chinese 5 spice and salt. 
  • Add oil to the preheated pan and then sear mushroom steaks on both sides while gently pressing down with a spatula.
  • When steaks are golden brown turn off heat and add butter to pan. Baste mushrooms in butter for 1 minute. 
  • Place the Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad Kit® into a large bowl; toss with the salad dressing. Add the toppings; toss to combine.
  • Serve mushroom steaks on top of salad and enjoy!
