Portobello Mushroom Steak Earth Day Salad

Succulent Portobello mushrooms, sliced into hearty steaks paired with the Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad Kit is a delicious fusion of East meets West, offering a flavorful celebration of Earth Day.

Ingredients

1 (9.1-ounce) package Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad kit
1 pound Portobello mushrooms
1 tablespoon neutral oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 teaspoons Chinese 5 spice
1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

On a cutting board slice mushrooms into 1/2 inch steaks and preheat a pan to medium.
Season mushrooms on both sides with Chinese 5 spice and salt.
Add oil to the preheated pan and then sear mushroom steaks on both sides while gently pressing down with a spatula.
When steaks are golden brown turn off heat and add butter to pan. Baste mushrooms in butter for 1 minute.
Place the Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad Kit® into a large bowl; toss with the salad dressing. Add the toppings; toss to combine.
Serve mushroom steaks on top of salad and enjoy!
