Asian Apple Cha Siu Pork Buns

Ingredients
  

  • 1 (9.1-ounce) package Fresh Express® Asian Apple Salad Kit®
  • (21-ounce) minced pork
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce 
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water (slurry)

For the Buns:

  • 1 pack pre-made steamed bun dough (thawed if frozen or enough for 12–15 buns)
  • Small squares of parchment paper
  • Steamer

Instructions
 

  • Heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of oil.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add the minced pork and cook until browned and fully cooked.
  • Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat, stir in the chopped green onions, and let the filling cool completely.

Prepare the Buns

  • Divide the premade steamed bun dough into 12–15 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  • Flatten each ball into a round disk, leaving the center slightly thicker than the edges.
  • Place a spoonful of the cooled pork filling in the center of each dough disk.
  • Gently gather the edges of the dough, pinching them together at the top to seal the bun.
  • Place each bun on a small square of parchment paper, sealed side up.
  • Arrange the buns in a steamer, leaving space between them to expand.
  • Steam over medium heat for 12–15 minutes, or until the buns are fluffy and fully cooked.
  • Toss the salad ingredients in a bowl then serve along the buns.
